I have always been a fan of NIVEA body care products. Growing up, NIVEA was a lotion known for moisturizing your body and making it feel really smooth.
Today NIVEA is more than just body care. There is an extensive line of moisturizers for the lips. Recently I've tried the new Olive Oil and Lemon Moisture Rich Lip Care, and it works great.
The Olive Oil and Lemon stick not only moisturized my lips but it kept them extremely soft all day. I've experienced very few products that can do this. What I really love is the smell. The olive oil and lemon stick has a sweet and mild scent that is light not overwhelming.
The design of the lip care tube is very nice also. It's so convenient and it's made similar to a stick of cocoa butter. It's wide and gives the lips full coverage with one swipe as opposed to a traditional sized tube of lip balm.
Having five tubes of the new Olive Oil and Lemon Moisture Rich Lip Care is great. I get to add to my collection of lip care products for my extremely chapped lips and I get to share some with friends.
5 tubes of the New! NIVEA Kiss of Olive and Lemon Moisture Rich Lip Care– To soothes and nourish your lips to help them look and feel their kissable best. Its hydrating formula is enhanced with natural olive oil and lemon extract to help heal and soothe even the driest of lips.

Me: "Girls, It's quiet time. Go in your room and turn on a DVD."
My Girls: "OK, we're going to play Copy Kids! We want to see some avocado!"
My reaction: Hands in the air giving praises!
I've waited a long time for my girls to show interest in food, particularly vegetables. My five year old was my biggest worry. My two year old is still pretty good about trying things, but sometimes she repeats the negative comments about food she hears from her big sister, and it's a no-win situation for me from there.
Fortunately, the food battles in our house have changed drastically over the past two weeks. I was eager to review a resource designed to get kids eating. It's called Copy Kids, and it works!
From the moment I pressed play on the Copy Kids DVD, my kids have been talking about vegetables nonstop and asking for all the fruit they see. It has really been a blessing.
If you have young children, you know that food wars are exhausting.
It seems cheesy to think a simple DVD would make children eat their fruits and vegetables, but the concept of the video really is a proven success:
“I never would have expected my child to eat raw broccoli –
but she demanded it as soon as she saw another child eating
it on TV. Now it is one of her favorite vegetables.”
Cai Dixon, Producer
Copy Kids
My kids are proof that watching children eat on video motivates kids to want to eat the same foods. Not only did my girls want to eat the food on the video, but they also loved simply watching the video.
While watching the video my girls immediately started asking for vegetables and fruit. So like any parent would do, we headed straight to Safeway for produce.
Isabella really enjoyed picking up the vegetables. Here's what happened when I served those vegetables to her:
Impressive, right?
I still can't believe my eyes. My kid ate vegetables and loved it. I loved it too. I want my kids to want to eat healthy now so they will want to eat healthy as adults. The CDC statistics for obesity are alarming, and I believe healthy habits start at home with parents modeling a healthy lifestyle and encouraging kids to be healthy.
Note: CDC Statistics on obesity
In 2009–2010: 16.9% of U.S. children and adolescents were obese
In 2009–2010: 35.7% of U.S. adults were obese
It's amazing what positive influence can do!
Do you have a picky eater at home? Would you love to see Copy Kids transform your child into a healthy eater?
Wondering about their interest in avocados? Wait for it...

This week I was introduced to the Makari de Suisse Skin Care line and I was interested in trying it out, because it is designed to even skin tone and fade discolorations.
Since I have such problem skin, after breakouts I always end up with new scars from where I've scratched my face. I pretty much look like a teenager at least 20 days out of the month, so I'm always up for trying a fade cream that has great results.
I can't just try any product available, because I don't need anything adding to my problems and making my skin worse, so I have to be very selective with which brightening cream I buy.
What peaked my interest about Makari de Suisse products were the online testimonials. A lot of women have been pleased with their results. After doing my research of the skin brightening products online, I found the Day Treatment Cream to be something I should try.
The Day Treatment Cream is a daily moisturizer to even out the skin tone. It has a high lightening agent content, that will help get rid of unwanted pigmentation, dark spots, and blemishes for good. It also stimulates the formation of new epidermal cells without pigmented marks.
That's just what I need.
"To create a more even complexion, Makari uses an active solution they’ve created from a plant extract they obtain in Australia to fade the darker pigments on the skin. The active ingredients target the darker areas on the skin, creating a more even and clear complexion without a trace of prior complications."
Unfortunately, Freestyle Beauty, the nearest store in my area that sells Makari de Suisse, was a 30 minute drive from my house. I did like that it was located in a large shopping center, because it allowed me to do some necessary (one stop) shopping.
When I arrived in the store I walked up and down every isle looking for the Makari line, which was hard to find, because it was locked away in a glass cabinet. I had a salesman assist me and he also recommended the Day Treatment Cream.
The selection of Makari de Suisse products at Freestyle Beauty was large, but since the products were locked up I didn't feel like I had an ample opportunity to check out the rest of the product line in person. I don't like shopping under those circumstances, so in the future I would call around to see if any other stores in the area have Makari out on the shelves. Since I was buying Makari for the first time, I felt a little rushed to only grab the Makari product I had set out to buy while the cabinet was open and move on. (no add on sales there)
I enjoyed checking out all of the products in the store from hair care to nail polish and makeup, and found it hard to leave empty handed. In addition to purchasing the Makari Day Treatment Cream, I also bought Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Shampoo and Leave-In Conditioner for my daughter Isabella. This was my first time buying that brand as well.
Overall, my impression of the Makari de Suisse Day Treatment Cream is that it smoothes on nicely, it's very lightweight, and smells great. My face felt soft after applying it and the cream did not dry up and feel like a mask. That is always one of my concerns with face products. I hate that dry cracking feeling. The Day Treatment Cream actually put moisture into my skin which is normally dry and I like that. I'm hoping to see a real difference in the fading of my dark spots within the month. I'll update this post with before and after photos in a few weeks. Until then you can view more photos from my Makari de Suisse shopping experience in my Google+ album.

For the first few weeks of my daughter's life she was well taken care of by nurses. I didn't have to lift a finger, because she was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the hospital. The nurses attended to her 24 hours a day.
Fortunately, I decided to be a hands on mom and took the initiative to care for her along side the nurses. That meant feeding, clothing, and changing her every three hours. I learned a lot.
Although I was there most of the day and into the night it seemed as though her bath time never occurred when I was around. I missed out on that part of taking care of baby.
When I brought her home, I was afraid. How should I hold and bathe this tiny little baby? I got off the hook for a time. I asked visiting family members to help. This lasted for a whole two months.
My sister and my first baby after bath time
Eventually, the visits were over I was alone with my baby and husband. One night, we knew it was time to give our baby a bath on our on. I was terrified and so was he.
We laid out all of the precious little bath items we had received from our baby showers (a tub, baby wash, lotion, cotton balls, and a hooded baby towel). We were set.
Then we had to figure out the water temperature and how to use a baby tub. Believe it or not the tubs can be confusing. We had a tub that gave the alternative of using a mesh hammock to "cradle baby." Well, that sounded perfect (sounded, I said).
So we finally think we have everything right, and I held our sweet baby really close until we put her in the water.
"Yehehehehhehehe.....yeheheheh!"
I'm not kidding when I say that was the sound we heard. It scared the daylights out of me. Our baby let out the most pitiful cry ever. We were calmly freaking out. Is that even possible? We tried to talk to her and reassure her. When nothing worked, I started to rush.
Then came the poop!
Who knew? Apparently, every parent that bathed babies before us knew. I hear it's quite common. Perhaps somebody should have attached a warning to the tub (hint). Things were not going how I expected. We took deep breaths, started over, and ran a new bath. Even though our baby cried the whole time, we finally got through it, sans the mesh hammock.
Then came the best part of the experience. I cuddled her up in her bath towel and held her so tightly. She was fresh and clean, but most of all, she was calm.
We were all in heaven.
For me, wrapping her up was the cherry on the top. At the time, I used a hooded towel that took getting used to, but recently I reviewed the Cuddlecloth which makes it a lot easier for moms to give a hands free baby bath and wrap baby up with ease immediately after bathing them.
I love the design, because it actually prevents moms from getting wet during bath time as well.
Sometimes it's the little things in life that are the most enjoyable. In her lifetime, she'll have plenty of baths, but the memory of giving her first baby bath will always be my fondest.
Interested in your own Cuddlecloth to use or give away?

On Saturday, July 7, you can bring your kids to see a real Baby Dragon (well a life-size and stunningly realistic creature from the DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular show) at Gaylord National Resort.
This live performance is free and open to the public and I'm pretty excited, because my five year old is really into dragons right now. Kids will really be amazed at the lifelike designs.
The show will feature a seven-foot-tall, 14-foot-long, smoke-breathing Baby Dragon and his brave Viking Trainer as they take kids on a magical and humorous journey to learn how to train a dragon.
Kids will learn the three important lessons every young dragon trainer should know and will become an “Official Dragon Trainer” for the day.
This is the perfect opportunity to let any little boy fulfill his fantasy of training a dragon and a great way to teach princesses how to handle the dragons that capture them in fairytales.
It's going to be a really exciting experience, so get the kids ready for an evening of excitement and wonder followed by a spectacular show of fireworks over the Potomac River.
Here is the schedule to plan ahead:
6:00 – 6:15 p.m. DreamWorks Character Parade featuring the Baby Dragon
The Dragon will join the other DreamWorks characters (Shrek, Kung Fun Panda, etc.) as they march thru Gaylord’s Atrium interacting with guests.
7:45 – 8:00 p.m. Dragon Training Show
The Baby Dragon and his Viking Trainer will give a live, 15-minute performance that features many fun, interactive moments with the kids in the audience.
9:30 p.m. Gaylord National’s Summer Fireworks Show
Afterwards, stick around to enjoy a summertime tradition at Gaylord National – fireworks every Saturday night over the Potomac River. The best view is along the waterfront!
