On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, my girls and I went to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Stephen Udvar-Hazy Center to watch the NASA Space Shuttle Discovery landing.
We had front row seats!
Taking my kids to Udvar-Hazy was exciting. One of their favorite things to talk about is space, and this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Isabella and Gabriella had a great time making this delicious fruit salad with yogurt last night. After chilling it overnight, they enjoyed it along with biscuits and honey for breakfast this morning.
Ingredients:
1 large orange, peeled and sectioned
1 bunch seedless grapes
1 can triple cherry mixed fruit
1 can pineapple chunks, drained
1 cup vanilla yogurt
Directions:
Combine all fruit in a large bowl. Add yogurt and stir gently.
Place in refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours.
*Note: I cut the grapes into quarters before letting the children mix the fruit and yogurt to avoid any choking hazard!
Burgundy carpet was stylish in the 70's...and you know it!
This picture has always made me laugh. I can't believe it's me, but it has been in my mom's photo collection of me for as long as I can remember, so there's no denying it.
It's the moment every mother knows will come...the moment their kid does something cute and slightly embarrassing.
My moment was "The Kiss!"
I don't know what's worse, me and the little fella on the floor moving in for a "Hollywood" kiss, or the fact that our heads are tilted like we mean business.
Where did we learn THAT?
I can't help but laugh when I see this, even more now that my husband came to me this week and told me that our youngest daughter, Gabriella, is starting to tilt her head to kiss him...DRAMA!
(And no, she hasn't seen this photo) Kids have minds of their own, that's for sure.
Ever wonder what you did that made your parents blush? I imagine it was quite a show! What about your children? My children's naked leaps into my Skype meeting last month were pretty embarrassing I must say.
As I spent time in the ConAgra Foods booth at the expo at the BlissDom Conference, I was overwhelmed by all of the information I was given. The thought that the kids next door may not be eating started to hit me hard.
I walked away with a heavy heart. It's something that didn't just cross my mind everyday, but hunger is common, and many people including myself are needed to help.
Check out the following statistics from Feeding America (the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief organization):
More than 1 in 5 children in the U.S. don’t know where their next meal is coming from
More than 16 million children in the U.S. face hunger
The face of child hunger is different than you might think. It’s not just starving or homeless children. Often, it’s a one- or two-income family that has suffered from the economy and have depleted their savings.
How does that make you feel? Does it shock you to know that even some of the people you see in your community may be without food today?
It really breaks my heart.
Reading the statistics is hard enough, but seeing the faces of the families and hearing the children speak brought me to my knees.
I'm praying that together we will end child hunger!
Please watch the video below to understand the challenge our country is facing and consider what you can do to help:
These are America's children!
It's not easy to watch that, but it is important to see it. Child hunger exists and it is very real. Now, let me tell you about two easy things I'm doing to help and you can do them too!
Recently, my girls and I decided to have fun making homemade lava lamps together. This science project is one of many in a book for kids that we are currently using to learn about physics.
The purpose of this lesson is to teach the kids about density, volume, and molecules (my kids are obsessed with molecules right now).
It's not hard, and you don't need much to have a lot of fun. You'll find the supplies right in your pantry.
Grab your kids and the following items:
Empty 2 liter bottle
Bottle of vegetable oil
Water
Liquid food coloring
Plastic cup
Spoon
Funnel (optional)
Now, let's get started!
Wasn't that easy and fun? Stay posted for our next science project coming soon...
Women's face care and body products are essential. No matter if you are low maintenance and wash and moisturize, or if you indulge in weekly facials and pampering, chances are you have special product or two that make up your routine.
I like to consider myself to be simple, but if you took a look into my cabinet you would see that I have several go-to products for specific purposes that I absolutely love. I really don't believe in the soap and water routine only these days. Especially not when I want to look my best.
Moisturizers are very important to improving circulation, protecting the skin, and maintaining a healthy glow.
Recently, I had the pleasure of trying the Estrea Body Care package and was very pleased with the results.
Estrea Body Care Package A set of products to care for your whole body in a combination to help refresh and renew skin. These products moisturize, help stimulate circulation and promote your skin’s elasticity. Made for all skin types.
Contents:
Hydrating Body Lotion with Olive Oil, Ceramide & Coffee
Tightening & Replenishing Face & Neck Cream with Olive Oil, Coffee & Hyaluron
Hydrating Hand Cream with Olive Oil & Citrus Extract
Refreshing Foot Balm with Chestnut and Mint
Each product is very gentle and because they are made with natural elements and promote healthy skin, I was happy to try them.
Both the Hydrating Lotion and Cream were very smooth and I like them because they are not at all greasy. I have very dry skin and I require a good moisturizer, but lathering up and feeling slippery afterward isn't the feel I'm after. Estrea left my hands and body soft and moisturized.
The Tightening & Replenishing Cream for the Face and Neck is very light and felt nice on my face. It doesn't leave an oily feeling behind and I was able to apply makeup a few minutes after using it.
The Refreshing Foot Balm is exactly that...refreshing! I love good foot products that contain mint. Not only is this balm fragrant, but it's a great moisturizer for dry and cracked skin that will also reduce swelling and stimulate circulation. It's perfect for an evening foot massage after a long day.
Since its proven success in the mid 90s, Estrea’s Skin Care System has been the number one choice of European women. Now, for the first time, the Estrea product line is available to the U.S. market, so that American women can experience the benefits of Estrea’s unique European Skin Care System.
Estrea’s twelve cleansing and moisturizing products for the face, hands, body and feet, bring together modern science and the restorative properties of nature to create a rejuvenating skin care regimen.
The line’s most popular products, the fast-absorbing hand lotions and creams, have been proven to promote fingernail growth.
The natural ingredients in Estrea include aloe vera, collagen, coffee, olive oil, citrus extracts, chestnut and Vitamins A, C, E and F.
