Play Copy Kids DVD and Watch Your Children Eat Healthy (Review & Giveaway)

Me: "Girls, It's quiet time. Go in your room and turn on a DVD."

My Girls: "OK, we're going to play Copy Kids! We want to see some avocado!"

My reaction: Hands in the air giving praises!

I've waited a long time for my girls to show interest in food, particularly vegetables. My five year old was my biggest worry. My two year old is still pretty good about trying things, but sometimes she repeats the negative comments about food she hears from her big sister, and it's a no-win situation for me from there.

Fortunately, the food battles in our house have changed drastically over the past two weeks. I was eager to review a resource designed to get kids eating. It's called Copy Kids, and it works!

From the moment I pressed play on the Copy Kids DVD, my kids have been talking about vegetables nonstop and asking for all the fruit they see. It has really been a blessing.

If you have young children, you know that food wars are exhausting.

It seems cheesy to think a simple DVD would make children eat their fruits and vegetables, but the concept of the video really is a proven success:

Find children who LOVE to eat fruits and veggies, film them eating them – and make the video available to parents.

“I never would have expected my child to eat raw broccoli –
but she demanded it as soon as she saw another child eating
it on TV. Now it is one of her favorite vegetables.”

Cai Dixon, Producer
Copy Kids

My kids are proof that watching children eat on video motivates kids to want to eat the same foods. Not only did my girls want to eat the food on the video, but they also loved simply watching the video.

While watching the video my girls immediately started asking for vegetables and fruit. So like any parent would do, we headed straight to Safeway for produce.

Isabella really enjoyed picking up the vegetables. Here's what happened when I served those vegetables to her:

Impressive, right?

I still can't believe my eyes. My kid ate vegetables and loved it. I loved it too. I want my kids to want to eat healthy now so they will want to eat healthy as adults. The CDC statistics for obesity are alarming, and I believe healthy habits start at home with parents modeling a healthy lifestyle and encouraging kids to be healthy.

Note: CDC Statistics on obesity

  • In 2009–2010: 16.9% of U.S. children and adolescents were obese
  • In 2009–2010: 35.7% of U.S. adults were obese

It's amazing what positive influence can do!
