Dear Mommy!

Does this letter make you melt?

It absolutely makes me melt.

It is from my daughter, Bella. She is 4 years old, and so precious. These moments, more than many others are the absolute best!

I live for them. They are what make motherhood so sweet!

If ever I have an SAHM day that is too hard, too stressful, or too draining, I will pull this letter back up to remind myself what is so amazing about my day.

That is, having sweet little girls to care for, who love me more than anything in this world!

It'll be hard to give them away, but I look forward to eating some married cake with each of my girls one day! Until then, I'll savor the birthday cakes.

We must enjoy these early years, they fly by so fast!

Gaddy Nipper Crayons Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

Almost every little child has a fascination with art and colors. One of the most favorite things for children of any age to do is color or paint beautiful pictures and hang them on the wall.

My daughter is no exception, so when the opportunity to review Gaddy Nipper Crayons came along. I was very excited.

We spend a lot of time in our house coloring, painting, and hanging pictures each day, so having a new set of crayons for Bella to play and create with was perfect for us.

As soon as the package arrived, I couldn't wait to let her open the crayons. She had no idea what she was getting, so receiving the tiny little package all nicely wrapped was a lot of fun for her to open. She loves gifts!

The crayons, although not traditionally shaped, were easy to use and they wrote very well. That was important to me, because I hate cheap crayons that are made with cheap wax. They never write well and they take a lot of pressing in order to mark up the page.

Bella was very pleased with her new crayons and enjoyed the fact that they were robots, but after visiting the Gaddy Nipper website she said she would REALLY be happy to receive the set of crayon numbers. Good thing there are many shapes to choose from.

KIDS! They don't want much. lol

Wordless Wednesday "Sister, Sister"

What Goes Around Comes Back Around - Cough, Cough

So lately, it hasn't been a secret that I have been MIA from  the "blogophere." Not from "microblogging" of course, I tweet in my sleep, but from actually posting on The Chatty Momma Blog.

Why?

I've been sick and in a "sick funk". My whole house has been sick. Absolutely, utterly, painfully, miserably sick.

It's crazy. The end of 2010 and the start of 2011 hasn't been the greatest healthwise, to say the least.

Seriously, it felt like a test of those lines used during your wedding ceremony, where you vow to stay together, "in sickness and in health."

We've been through it. Let me tell ya.

Cranky, runny noses, coughs, congestion, fever, bodyaches, pains, headaches, earaches, sore throats, burning eyes, sensitive skin. You name it, we have been suffering through it all one by one.

It all started with The Chatty Daddy. Since he is a chaplain and comes into contact with a lot of people and kids, he has been known for carrying germs lately. For the past couple of months, I have managed to protect the family from his illnesses, but this time he broke the rules and came out of quarantine for some family company (he was lonely).

*snuggles*

So the week after Christmas, I got sick. It was the worst. I just didn't feel like doing anything at all. I tried my best not to take any medicine that wasn't absolutely necessary. By the time New Years Eve came around, we all settled in for an evening of family time and watched the ball drop.

Boy, did it ever!

Fresh into the new year with plans and resolutions to work on I started to think I was doing quite well, then I noticed that the girls were starting to cough and sneeze. Next came the fevers. I sent hubby right out for a new thermometer and more medicine. (I seem to get a new thermometer with every illness, sue me!)

Ugh, we are ALL getting sick!

I couldn't believe it. Hubby had passed his germs all around.

So, as any mother would, I settled in with my girls and tried my best to nurse them back to health as quickly as possible. I let them sleep odd hours, I tried unsuccessfully to feed them soup, I gave them popsicles. I did everything I knew to do, including keeping them in the house and away from more germs.

It worked! They were improving.

Then, I woke up one day, and I too was sick AGAIN!

My word. Hubby and those germs! Ugh, I just wanted to spray him with Lysol.

What a way to start the new year. NOT!

So, unlike the first round of coughs, sniffles, sneezes, and aches, this time I opted for medicine to get me through. I hate having to take meds, because I am still nursing Gabby, and I do notice changes in my milk production (despite some medical advice I have received).

Anyway, here we are today. I am actually in the end stages of this lingering cold/flu/whachamacallit illness and I feel healthy enough to get back to business, thank God.

BUT, guess who was back at the pharmacy today buying more meds...

You betcha...The Chatty Daddy!

It's true when they say "what goes around comes back around."

No kidding, I'm just hoping it takes a little longer to get back to me and the girls again. REALLY!

9 Tips to Treat Colds and Flu the 'Natural' Way

With no cure in sight for the cold or the flu, current treatments can at best bring symptom relief or shorten the duration of those symptoms. You can take one of a variety of medications that may help relieve your symptoms. Or you can take the natural approach. WebMD went to Charles B. Inlander, president of The People's Medical Society, for some home remedies that may help you feel better along the way.
