When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I was so excited. I couldn't wait to decorate the nursery that my husband and I prayed over the day we closed on our "family" home. Everything was a big deal and the details were very important to me. From day to day emails about the development of the baby to the birth plan of my dreams, I was planning and announcing it all.
One of the major announcements of my pregnancy was the sex of the precious baby we were expecting.
I was beyond excited to share that we were having a (drum roll)...
What about you? Are you waiting on the edge of your seat to find out what the gender of your baby is? Or are you sitting calmly while everyone around you is asking why you're "not finding out?"
It's funny that it matters so much to some and not to others to know the sex of their child early on, but no matter what we choose to do it's always just as much of a surprise to see our babies on the day of delivery.
From the moment I announced we were having a girl, my family and friends were just as excited as I was. My baby showers were themed with white and shades of pink everywhere. I also received pink everything.
I loved it!
It's not quite the same for moms who are not finding out though. Purchases made are often in green, yellow, and cream with tan accents, instead of the traditional pinks and blues.
It doesn't have to be that way though. Fortunately, thanks to Kelly Boyington, creator of NotFindingOut.com, there is an online registry that is just as fun for moms who aren't finding out. The registry helps keep the secret of the baby's sex, but still allows for the moms-to-be to receive the appropriate color for baby based upon the sex after their delivery!
Perfect for receiving gender specific items, without ruining the surprise.
Parents can register for items in a boy version and girl version, and when the baby is born and the sex is confirmed, all of their purchased items will be shipped out accordingly!

How awesome is that?

"Nationally, 41% of all women are preferring not to find out the sex of the baby."

If I win this contest, I am hereby declaring that I will just turn around and give it away on my blog...because I have a RIDICULOUS NUMBER of Bebe Au Lait nursing covers and burp cloths. It might be fair to admit that when I was pregnant, I was addicted to buying them. And? They're still my favorite burp cloths to use. The nursing covers can double as blankets, or as shades draped over the carrier. I even used my black eyelet style on a plane once to darken the cabin, so Rayah could get some much needed sleep.
