It Was Prematurity Awareness Day and We Left the NICU

Straight from the NICU to my bed
Our 1st time co-sleeping
11/14/06

I just want to take a moment to reminisce about the first time I brought my sweet daughter, Isabella, home. Four years ago yesterday, we were released from the NICU.

It was Prematurity Awareness Day 2006!

I was so excited. Perfect timing for my preemie to come home. It was exactly two weeks from the date she was born.

Finally, finally, finally, I would feel like the mother I always wanted to be.

The thing is, when leaving the NICU, it's a different ball game. Without the wires and machines telling me that she was okay, I couldn't tell for sure if she really WAS okay.

I didn't take my eyes off of her for a second.

I still haven't.

Is she okay? Thank God, yes! Despite her being 7 weeks early, she is very blessed to be in good health.

She is also a blessing!

what a sweet story. Must have been nice to snuggle up to her all close.

It was fabulous. The hardest thing I ever had to do was leave my baby in the NICU and go home. It was amazing to be able to have her all to myself and snuggle whenever I wanted to.

We're still snuggling today!
