The Loss of the Unborn

Recently, I was excited to learn of of an old friend from my school age years who was on bed rest. I called her and we were excited, because we're both so bored. We go way back so we had a great conversation, filled in some gaps, and we were looking forward to comforting each other throughout this experience.

Well, unfortunately, I have been notified that the twin boys that she was carrying have been lost and I have no words.

I have no words!

It breaks my heart and at the same time frightens me to death. The only thing one can do is grow closer to God because we don't have the answers, only He does.

God—Why her baby? Why anybody's baby?

We will never know.

This is hard. I'm already having an extremely hard pregnancy and to add one more worry is not what I am prepared to do.

Nevertheless, one must keep on keeping on.

I sent my friend resources on infant loss and support, as I hope to be able to give her comfort during this time, although i know this is NOT enough.

What more can I do?

Good News!

I am free to return to work, and we're having a girl!

I tried work on Wed, but didn't go back Thur, because I did way to much walking.

I actually had to get a walker which I will use tomorrow.

I've had some sharp chest pains and so I went to get a second CAT scan on Wed that revealed no blood clots which is positive.

I am really worried about all the testing and treatments that the Dr has done on me though.

I hate the risks of all of this.

Anyway, the weather here is great. I'm glad to get a little bit of spring.

I was feeling like I was going to miss the whole season!

It's a GIRL!

This morning we had our third ultrasound to monitor the progress of the baby and to see if the sex could be revealed this early (sometimes babies are camera shy)!

Well, like mother like daughter. Baby Sanders #2 is all about spotlight.

In the beginning of the ultrasound Chatty Daddy and I were almost certain it was going to be a boy. The profile that we saw just didn't seem to look like the profile we saw with Bella. So we were set from the jump that we were having a boy. The technician basically ignored our conversation and was probably thinking,

"What do they know. Are they trained to read ultrasounds anyway!"

In the end we waited for the big reveal and sure enough Baby Sanders had something to show. It wasn't quite what we were expecting though. We were so wrong, LOL. We started asking the tech if there could be a mistake because it's probably hard to tell anyway and she made it clear to us that she either looks for "boys parts" or "girls parts". Whew, okaaaaaaay!

Then, it IS a girl!

We're so excited. Although it would be nice to have a boy in the family, we were really wanting to put a use to all of Bella's pink stuff and give her a roommate!

With the state of the economy the way it is, I would dread having to buy EVERYTHING all over again anyway.

As for names, we haven't picked one yet. With Bella she was named the day of the ultrasound, and her name has been perfect for her. She really is an "Isabella." With the new baby however, it's going to take more time and serious thought, because I want her to have the same sense of ownership to her name that Bella does.

Bella LOVES her name and she "owns" it in every way.

So, as I sit and ponder the BEST name for this new baby...stay tuned! Announcing it to Chatty Daddy will be next.

We won't be using these lists below, but FYE...(for your entertainment)

Top Baby Girl Names of 2008, according to Baby Center.

  1. Emma
  2. Sophia
  3. Madsion
  4. Isabella*
  5. Olivia
  6. Ava
  7. Madeline
  8. Addison
  9. Hailey
  10. Lily

Let Them Eat Cake

And what a cake they shall eat!

We enjoyed this day spending time with friends as we celebrated Chatty Daddy's graduation from seminary.

After Bella devoured most of her cake, she set her sites on daddy's piece as well.

Congratulations once again to Chatty Daddy!

*in case your wondering, that is a pump of zofran anti nausea medication I am wearing. It is being infused into my leg.

Hey Laura,

This is short cuz I'm sick again and taking it easy. I went to Kentucky to my husband's graduation and it wasn't a good idea.

Anyway , we'll know the sex on the 26th and it can't come soon enough!

Happy Graduation Chatty Daddy

Praise the Lord! He has done it. Chatty Daddy, has finally graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Louisville Kentucky, with a Masters of Divinity in Apologetics. WOOT!

He has worked so hard on his degree, all while juggling a full time job, his family, and all of his responsibilities outside of the home that add up to a lot!

He has DONE it! And he did it well. He is a hard worker, and loyal employee, and a dedicated husband and father, and not only does he deserve this honor, but many more as well!

Congratulations, Reverend Ryan J. Sanders
We are very proud of YOU!

Happy to be a Mother Day!

5/8/09 Tonia Update

Tonia had a doctor's appointment that went well today.

The heartbeat of Baby #2 sounded fine.

Tonia will be on the steroid for another seven days.

After she is off of the steroid completely, she will begin tapering off of the Zofran pump and other meds.

We have an appointment for an ultrasound on May 26th to check gender and any problems from the meds.

Her return to work is scheduled on May 18th depending on how things go.

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.

Please continue praying as she tapers off the steroid.

She has been on the steroid for so long, it's a process each time she decreases her dosage.

Thank you.

Tonia is doing better overall. She has a doctor's appointment on Friday the 8th and we will discuss when she can return to work.

It may be possible that she can return as early as next week. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

I will be in touch soon, or hopefully, she will feel good enough to get in touch with you soon. Thanks.
