Backup Sensors a Must

As you can see, I haven't blogged for a while. I've been so busy getting adjusted to some recent changes, and all things "mom and baby" have been put back into the box that we call personal for a bit, but today I feel a deep urge to write.

I'm sure if you're reading this you're very up on family and parenting issues and you have heard about the tragic accident that the Chapman family suffered last night. If not, see excerpt below.

MARIA SUE CHAPMAN, DAUGHTER OF STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, DIES IN ACCIDENT AT FAMILY HOME

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters.

That was taken from Steven's website: www.stevencurtischapman.com

After hearing of this I couldn't help but write. Not just to acknowledge the family and to express the deep sadness I feel for them, but also to create awareness on what we can do to help prevent this from happening in our home.

Recently, I was riding around with my real estate agent and as we backed up her car began to beep. When I asked her what that beeping noise was she let me know that she had back up sensor installed on her vehicle because she has two daughters. I immediately thought, "I'm going to have to get one of those too."

Well, since Bella is only 18 months old and I never let her outside or out of my sight, I hadn't even begun to do my research on different product options available. This all has changed today, for the sake of your family and mine.

Before today I had no idea that
'Backovers' account for half of auto fatalities involving children.

I hope that the following info helps you or you pass it on to someone you know needs it.

Please be in prayer for this family as they deal with the tragedy. We all know how much love we have for our kids and it's hard to imagine life without them.

God Bless the Chapman family.
